How to choose the type of carbide thread end milling cutter
Release time:
Dec 13,2023
For high hardness materials, particularly difficult to machine materials, deep hole threads or threads with high finish requirements, it is usually possible to process them with SCORE thread milling cutters.
How to choose the carbide thread end mill model? This is mainly related to the hardness of the shape of the material to be processed.
Material hardness: if the hardness of the cutting material HRC more than 40, we have to choose two or three thread milling cutter, while the processing of HRC40 or less, the standard thread milling cutter.
Internal or external thread selection: some specifications of thread milling cutter are common for internal and external threads, such as metric M or American Standard UN, the same thread milling cutter can process internal and external threads.
Thread length: the basic principle to follow is not more than 4 times the thread diameter of the thread length, thread length of 4 times or less try to choose the overall carbide thread milling cutter, more than 4 times the diameter, you need to order non-standard tools.
Diameter of milling cutter: according to the specification of the threaded hole to be processed, choose the diameter of milling cutter which is close to the diameter of the threaded hole.
Selection of milling cutter material according to the material to be processed, for example, JK10CA is suitable for processing above HRC40 and some titanium alloys, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, etc., JK20CB is suitable for processing soft materials below HRC40, and JK10F is suitable for processing non-ferrous metals and other materials.
Thread size: choose integral thread milling cutter or indexable thread milling cutter, generally speaking, M12 or below choose integral carbide thread milling cutter, larger specifications generally recommended indexable thread milling cutter. When the requirement of finish is high, the overall thread milling cutter should be used.
